Nova konstrukcija i matematički model pijezoelektričnog dinamičkog apsorbera za kontrolu vibracija mostovskih konstrukcija
In the dissertation a novel construction of a dynamic absorber for bridgevibration control is presented, with piezoelectric elements, in a form ofconnected bimorph beams, added to the absorbers. Through adding thepiezo-elements, part of the mechanical energy of bridge vibrations istransformed into electrical energy, turning the piezoelecric dynamicabsorber (PEDA) into an energy harvesting device. Generated electricenergy is able to power bridge monitoring devices and signalisation. Athourough mathematical model of PEDA is devised and then validated bycomparing the results to the ones in the literature. The model also allowsfor improvement of the PEDA performance by the use of materialsmodelled with derivatives of non-integer order. The governing equationsare derived through the Hamilton’s principle, and then solved via theGalerkin spatial discretization and Newmark numerical integrationprocedure in the time domain, and by assuming the quasi-stationaryvibration state for the solution in the frequency domain. In thedissertation, the procedure is also presented for optimizing geometricaland material paramerters of the PEDA model, as well as optimizing thenumber and dispositoin of the absorbers on the bridge, with the goal tominimize bridge vibrations and maximize generated electrical power. Anexample of application of PEDA for bridge vibration control is alsoprovided, and several possible ways for further improving the PEDAperformance are included. The results show that bridge dynamiccharacteristics can be significantly improved through the use of PEDA,while at the same time generating a meaningful amount of electricalenergy for a wide range of forcing load frequencies, making PEDA apotentially valiable asset in achieving sustainable development
