Opis (srp)

In this doctoral dissertation, two design strategies for modular concrete shells focused on prefabrication technology have been developed. The research encompasses four synchronized work packages, with steps defined through pre-rationalization and a novel hybrid approach. The main geometric methods developed include the design of modular shells with planar panels with no geometric torsion. These methods comprise original algorithms for generating circular meshes (AKM), discrete versions of surfaces such as Dupin cyclides, canal surfaces, and Monge surfaces, as well as the design of Koenigs nets explored through Christoffel duality and two characteristic transformations: Möbius and projective. The first case study demonstrated the success of the hybrid approach with the AKM method in constructing a modular shell, reducing deformations and optimizing material usage. In the second study, the design of minimal surfaces was implemented with the AKM method, ensuring the efficiency of the concrete shell and the adaptability and scalability of the modules. The third study investigated the optimization of Dupin cyclides, highlighting benefits in material efficiency and assembly. It is concluded that the implementation of defined geometric methods and prefabrication-oriented design strategies leads to significant improvements in construction efficiency and control over the local geometry of modules, allowing broader and more flexible design approaches for designers.
