The subject of the doctoral dissertation is the history of KosovskaMitrovica during the wars of 1912-1918. As not much has beenwritten about this town in the mentioned time frame, our goal is toprocess the topic from the historical, military and demographicaspect, based on available sources of domestic and foreignprovenance, with the addition of existing literature. Through research,we tried to present in more detail and comprehensively the course ofwar operations and the liberation of Mitrovica in the First BalkanWar, the conflicts between the Serbian army and Central Forcestroops in the fall of 1915 and the liberation of Kosovska Mitrovica inthe Great War in October 1918. political circumstances: theestablishment of a new government in the autumn of 1912, the eventsthat preceded the First World War, as well as the situation in the cityduring this conflict. In November 1915, the town on the Ibar was a"meeting place" for the Supreme Command of the Serbian Army,army commanders, Serbian diplomatic staff, representatives offoreign countries, journalists-reporters from the Balkan Front andnumerous civilians who decided not to wait for the enemy army intheir places. stay. The time of the occupation administration fromNovember 1915 to October 1918 is also an important segment of thedoctoral dissertation. Mitrovica in Kosovo became part of the Austro-Hungarian occupation zone, the Military General Governor in Serbia, formed on January 1, 1916, by order of the Imperial-Royal SupremeCommand. As a city settlement, it was the seat of the so-calleddistrict. new areas. The occupying power brought numerous changesin religious, political and social life, which were mostly manifested inthe field of economy, education and schooling, as well as in culturalactivities.In order to present the research as clearly as possible, we have dividedthe text into seven thematic units that follow a chronologicalframework. The list of used sources and literature, with an attachmentin the form of photographic material, is given at the end of thedissertation.
