Irrational consumption of natural resources, environmental disastersand the needs of future generations emphasize the necessity ofmoving from linear supply chain models, which follow the "takemake-dispose" pattern, to circular models that prioritize resourceefficiency, reuse and recycling.In the doctoral dissertation, first of all, the necessity of integration ofparticipants in the supply chain was presented. By integratingparticipants and optimizing processes in the supply chain, it ispossible to effectively respond to the complex demands of consumers.Concern for the environment and the rational use of natural resourcescreates the need for new, systemic changes in business. This impliesthe implementation of the concept of sustainability, that is, a holisticapproach to the economic, environmental and social goals ofcompanies, that is, the supply chain.The circular supply chain differs from other supply chain models thatadopt the concept of sustainability in that, in addition to therestorative dimension, it also takes into account the regenerativedimension of the product. The implementation of the circular businessmodel is a very complex process and requires changes in all businesssegments. Circular business models are implemented mainly by largecompanies in developed countries. However, in developing countries,circular supply chains can significantly contribute to economicgrowth and development, as evidenced by the concrete examplespresented in the dissertation.The main goal of the research is to identify improvements in thesupply chain processes, to identify the environmental, economic andsocial effects of applying a circular business model, as well as toidentify limitations in the application of circular business models inthe Republic of Serbia.The empirical research is based on quantitative research and wasconducted at the level of the Republic of Serbia. The basic tool fordata collection is a survey questionnaire. Data processing wasperformed in the statistical program SPSS. The statistical techniquesused enabled a detailed analysis and testing of the set hypotheses.The research came to the conclusion that the circular business modelcontributes to the improvement of processes, ensures greatercompetitiveness and significantly affects the reduction of businesscosts.The research results show that the integration of participants in thesupply chain has a positive effect on the performance of companies,that the level of maturity of the supply chain depends on the way ofestablishing relationships between participants, and that the degree ofintegration of participants in the supply chain determines the level ofsustainability of the supply chain.
