Opis (srp)

The research of this doctoral thesis is focused on the studying of the laudatory speeches of the Roman Emperors, which were written by contemporary writers, based on the data about the foreign politics of the Roman Empire during the fourth century, that is, the relations with the Persia on the eastern frontier, with Germans on the Rhine frontier and Goths on the Danube border and in the Balkans. The domestic policy issues are investigated, which are related to the battle for the imperial throne between members of the royal group (for example Constantine versus Maximian and Maxentius), or the battle between an Emperor and usurpers (for example, Constantius II versus Magnentius, or Theodosius I versus Magnus Maximus and Eugenius).
